Email Marketing That Gets Replies
Why Simple Wins
I send a lot of email.
And if there is one thing I have learned, it is that the emails that get the most response are not always the prettiest, most designed, or most complicated.
They are usually the ones that feel like a real person wrote them.
That matters because email can become very easy to overthink.
We worry about graphics, templates, subject lines, automations, segmentation, and all the technical pieces before we ever ask the most important question.
Would I actually want to read this?
For me, the best email marketing comes back to a few simple ideas.
Make It About One Thing
One of the easiest ways to lose people is to try to do too much in one email.
You do not need to give a market update, promote a listing, tell a client story, invite them to an event, ask for referrals, and teach them about financing all at once.
Pick one job.
Maybe you want to educate.
Maybe you want to start a conversation.
Maybe you want someone to click a link.
Maybe you want someone to reply.
That is enough.
The clearer the purpose, the easier the email is to write and the easier it is to read.
Write Like A Human
This is probably the biggest thing I come back to.
I do not want my emails to sound like a brokerage newsletter.
I want them to sound like me.
That means I am much more likely to start with something like
I keep getting asked this.
Or
Quick heads up if you are thinking about moving.
Or
This came up again this week and I wanted to share it.
Those openings feel like a conversation.
And that is really what good email marketing should feel like.
Not a blast.
A conversation at scale.
Give People A Reason To Reply
Clicks are great.
Replies are better.
A reply turns someone from a name on a list into a real conversation.
So instead of always sending people to another page, try asking for a simple response.
Reply VALUE if you want a current home estimate.
Reply BUY if purchasing is on your radar.
Reply PLAN if you are thinking about moving this year.
Keep it easy.
The less effort it takes to respond, the more likely someone is to do it.
Consistency Matters More Than Frequency
You do not have to email every day.
You do not even have to email every week.
But you do need to show up consistently enough that people remember who you are.
If weekly feels realistic, great.
If twice a month is more manageable, do that.
If monthly is all you can commit to, start there.
I would rather see you send one useful email every month for a year than send four emails in one week and disappear for six months.
Consistency builds familiarity.
Familiarity builds trust.
And trust is what creates conversations.
Do Not Be Afraid To Be Personal
Some of my favorite emails are not strictly about Real Estate.
They may start with something I learned, something I saw, a conversation I had, or something happening in my life.
The key is making it relevant.
Personal does not mean random.
It means giving people a reason to feel connected to you.
People do business with people.
Email is one of the easiest places to let your personality show.
The Simple Email Formula
If you are stuck, use this.
Start with a real thought.
Teach one thing.
Give one next step.
Ask for one reply.
That is it.
You do not need a complicated funnel to make email work.
You need to be useful, recognizable, and consistent enough that when someone needs help, your name is already familiar.
The goal is not to send more email.
The goal is to send email people actually want to open and respond to.
